GZ Trip Part 2 - Yummy Food

Every trip to Guangzhou always brings me lots of joy. It is not just the foot massage that fascinates me. The interesting variety of food you can find and how the dishes are prepared never fail to impress me!

Ok,ok... don't believe me right? Here's some pictures of the yummy dishes that I had in Guangzhou...

红烧狮子头

Raddish in soup

Huge pork ribs which you are supposed to eat with your hands
(plastic gloves provided!)

Pork cut into strip to be stuffed into the 'wrap'

Yummy dessert with red bean paste.

One thing to note though, the dishes served in Guangzhou do not come in various serving sizes. It is always served in one standard size regardless of how many people are having the meal together. And this creates a headache for us, as there are just a handful of us dinning together most of the time. We are so used to ordering a variety of dishes that we will always have lots of food left untouched after our meals. And this part, always leaves me feeling very guilty after a sumptuous dinner...

GZ Trip Part 1 - Foot Massage

Ooooohhhhh! Oooouuuuccchh! I turned left and right trying to ignore the ticklish cum painful feeling that came rushing from my foot. Never have I imagined that foot massage can be so 'unbearable'!

I have been to Guangzhou 4 times so far, but it was only on my 3rd trip that my colleagues in Guangzhou introduced me to Foot Massage. I wasn't quite sure whether I can take the pain at first, but the adventurous side of me convinced me that I should give it a try.

Each session begins with you dunking your feet into a wooden barrel filled with scorching hot water and some herbal medicine. The heat is soooo unbearable that it almost feel like your feet will get cooked just by immersing them in it. While your feet are still suffering in pain, the therapist will massage your neck and back. This process always left me speechless, because of the pain coming from both my feet and back! After the back massage, you will then progress to the ultimate foot massage!

After your feet have been cleaned, the therapist will spread a thick layer of lotion on the feet and calves, and then rubs and kneads every point of the soles. They may also provide you with a heated salt-pack where you can place it behind your back to ease any tension which you may have. This is the point where your body is totally relaxed... Mmmm...

For those of you who have not tried foot massage, do give it a go when you are in Thailand or China where the service is real cheap! Imagine I paid 40RMB for a 70 mins session! Ha Ha! Envious, right?

So... what is so unbearable of the foot massage? When they try to rotate your tiny little toes or rub your thigh! Aarrghhh!

I am Back!

Yeah! I am finally back to work in Singapore!

First of all, I must apologise to those of you out there who have been constantly checking my blog for new post in the past 1 week. I was on business trip to Guangzhou the whole of last week and was not able to log in to Blogger to share anything then.

What happened?? Well, I was actually in Guangzhou for training and the network does not allow me to surf the net during the training session. Besides, I am an attentive student, why would I be surfing net during training hours?? ;-p

The first night when I got back to my service apartment, I boot up my laptop to surf the net immediately... Imagine my disappointment when I realised that the network in my service apartment has blocked me from accessing this website! : (

Well, so here I am! Happy to be back in Singapore and can't wait to share more about my trip to Guangzhou with all of you! Look out for it! Cheers!
